The 2025 RAGBRAI Route is Revealed!
The 2025 RAGBRAI Route is Revealed!

Just as some folks anticipated, this year's RAGBRAI route is a "northern" Iowa route. And as usual, we had our own RAGBRAI watch party at home as we watched the Facebook "Route Announcement" livestream.

To start RAGBRAI off, we head to Orange City in the western part of the state. Not sure how the traditional dip of our rear wheels in the Missouri River will be handled, but there is always a plan... especially given it was the start town back in 2017. I imagine the usual pre-ride Expo will get riders a feel for the Dutch flair of this area. The nostalgia was certainly helping to elevate our watch party anticipation as the name of each of the overnight towns was revealed.

Day 1 we roll out of Orange City out to Milford 70.1 miles away and 1,522 feet of climbing.

Day 2 we are off to Estherville another 44.6 miles away with 1,395 feet of climb.

So far, both Day 1 and Day 2 are pretty tame on climbing. But the 70 miles on Day 1 is gonna wake everybody's legs up early!

Day 3 we are off to Forest City. That is 74.1 miles from Estherville to Forest City and 1,308 feet of climb. But not too much of a surprise as Day 2 or Day 3 usually go over the ridge the cuts north-south in Iowa.

Day 4 we head on to Iowa Falls. Another 68.3 miles and 1,449 feet of climbing. We should have ridden ourselves into shape by now!

Day 5 we ride into Cedar Falls a short 49.5 mile trip and 1,262 feet of climb,

Okay, we are getting close to the Mississippi now... home stretch now.

Day 6 we leave Cedar Falls heading off towards Oelwein just a short 38.2 miles and 1,210 feet of climb away.

Day 7 the last day is a decent 61.2 mile ride. It comes in at 2,341 feet of climb to ride into the end town of Guttenberg to dip our front wheel into the Mississippi River.

A grand total of 406 miles with 10,487 feet of climbing.

This is a lot flatter than last year... but nope.... Iowa is STILL not flat!!!

Oh #$%!... we are riding the RAGBRAI again this year? Oh #$%!... we gotta get training!!
